Photo of Sheila SimpsonLEXINGTON, KY (September 3, 2008) Shelia Simpson has been named Interim Campus Director of the new Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) Winchester-Clark County Campus. Simpson has worked the last five years as a Project Manager with Corporate and Community Development at BCTC in charge of community education. Prior to that position, she was the Public Relations Director at Midway College. She will be providing overall management and supervision at the campus and is responsible for representing BCTC in the local community, working with industry educational institutions, and other community groups.

"I am very honored and excited to lead the Winchester-Clark County Campus," said Simpson. The student response to the new building has been very positive and the generous, supportive spirit of this community ensures future growth. This new campus is poised to be the fastest growing of the BCTC regional campuses and will play a key role in providing a trained workforce for our service area.

Simpson is following in the footsteps of former Community Liaison Jo Ellen Reed, who led campus development through completion of the new building with much support from the community. Reed is taking her skills to another area of the college as Community Resource Development Specialist with BCTC's Office of Development. In her new role, Reed will be working with individuals, businesses and local officials throughout the Bluegrass Region to generate awareness, interest, and involvement in BCTC. She will also be wrapping up the remaining details of the local fundraising campaign, including managing the federal appropriations received for the Winchester-Clark County Campus. She will continue to be active in the development of the campus as a member of the campus advisory council. The Office of Development also provides support to the BCTC Foundation.
