Operation Read at BCTC Benefits from Joseph Beth Booksellers Gives Back Program
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 30, 2009) The Operation Read program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) recently received $1,714.67 from Joseph Beth Bookseller's Gives Back program. Operation Read is one of five non-profits in Lexington selected to be a Community Partner and a beneficiary of the Gives Back program. As such, Operation Read receives 0.5% of all bookstore purchases made by Gives Back members who have designated Operation Read as their preferred Community Partner.
Operation Read at BCTC helps adult learners improve their reading and writing skills and provides English as a Second Language classes for non-native English speakers. They also provide free one-on-one tutoring and/or small group classes.
BCTC will also be promoting its Operation Read program on Saturday, May 2 at Joseph Beth Booksellers, 161 Lexington Green Circle in Lexington. On Saturday, Joseph Beth will give 20 percent of sales accompanied with a special voucher to Operation Read. The special voucher can be picked up at Operation Read, the basement of the Carnegie Center on 251 West Second Street in Lexington, or contact Wilma Clapp at firstname.lastname@example.org.
