Overseas Educational Advisers Spend Day Exploring BCTC
LEXINGTON, KY (November 26, 2007) Dr. David Wachtel, Director of China Partnerships for Bluegrass Community amp; Technical College (BCTC), recently hosted the United States based training program for Overseas Educational Advisers (USBT). The week long visit is the result of a partnership between BCTC, the University of Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky University, and Berea College.
Overseas Educational Advisers visiting BCTC represented Russia, Portugal, Malaysia, Mali, and Peru. They spent the day visiting the Cooper and Leestown campuses discussing on-line learning, admissions procedures, multi-cultural programs and touring the trades and technologies program areas.
The USBT program is designed to expose the international advisors to the various levels of U.S. higher education, including a community college, small liberal arts school, regional university and research university. It is supported financially by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. There are about 450 overseas advising centers in the Education USA network worldwide, affiliated with the U.S. Department of State.
