Changing Classroom Cultures Conference

On Your Mark, Assess, Go!

March 23-24, 2018

Bluegrass Community and Technical College invites you to attend the 12th annual Changing Classroom Cultures Conference on Friday, March 23rd, and Saturday, March 24th, at the Newtown Campus. This free event is open to all KCTCS faculty, staff, and adjuncts.

The focus of this year's conference is Assessment. Friday's sessions will address information for faculty, adjuncts, and staff, while Saturday's workshops will focus on faculty and adjunct development. All sessions and workshops will provide an opportunity to strengthen skills needed to support student success.


Faculty, adjuncts, and staff are encouraged to submit a proposal for a 60-minute session on Friday to support the conference focus/theme. On Saturday, workshops will focus on four to five tracks. Possible session topics might include areas such as:

  • Advising, assessment and placement, completion and retention, mandatory placement, developmental education
  • First Year Experience (FYE)
  • Cultural competency, using data to address/teach diversity in the classroom
  • ESL, Student Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan, STEM, Distance Learning/Technology
  • Customer Service & Communication
  • Project Teams, Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Assessment Cycles/Process
  • General Education, Quality Assurance, Data/Predictive Analytics, Developing/Using Student Learning Outcomes, SACS
  • Apprenticeships/Experiential Education, and Performance Based Funding

Proposal Deadline: January 21, 2018
(Presenters will be notified of their proposal status.)



The annual Changing Classroom Cultures Innovation Award recognizes one BCTC adjunct faculty for a teaching innovation that enhances student learning. Nominations for deserving adjuncts must be received by January 28, 2018. The winner will be recognized at the conference.
