Academic Bootcamp

Are your English, reading, or math scores lower than they should be? Do you need to take developmental courses before enrolling in college-level work?  What if you could cut down on the number of developmental courses needed or bypass them completely?

BCTC’s Academic Boot Camp can help: our experienced instructors and advisors will provide a four day, intensive set of free workshops to help sharpen basic skills, prepare for the first year of college, and at the end, students can retest for free.

Dates:  Monday, July 17 – Thursday, July 20

Times:
9:00-12:00 – English/Reading: This review will help students review basic editing skills as well as reading comprehension

12:15-1:00 – Informational Sessions (Lunch Break- bring your own lunch): After lunch, students will have the opportunity to learn college survival skills from professional advisors.  Topics will include note-taking, time management, critical thinking, and test anxiety (just before retesting on Friday!)

1:15-4:15 – Math: This review will help students review basic pre-algebra and algebra skills as well as learn about free online resources that can be used outside of the boot camp to further improve those skills

NOTE:  Students must attend sessions every day in order to be eligible for the free retest!

Location:   Newtown Campus – Classroom Building Room 209 (lab) and Room 210 (lecture room)

Retesting:  Leestown Testing Center

Cost:  FREE!
