Transfer Scholarships

Most Kentucky institutions offer great transfer scholarships to BCTC students. Scholarship information is subject to change and based on the information provided by the four-year institutions. View the websites below for the most up-to-date information.


Asbury University

Any KCTCS transfer student with a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher, will be eligible for a $600 annual scholarship for their first semester. If they earn a 2.0-2.99 in their first semester, the scholarship will be renewed. If they earn a 3.0 or higher, the scholarship will be increased to $1200 annually. Bellarmine University

Amount: $6200 to $10,000
Terms: Awards granted to all full-time students who transfer from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The top transfer grant is $9500 per year. Also awards four Phi Theta Kappa scholarships of $16,000 per year.

KWC NSF Stem Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5500.00 per year (renewable)
Terms: Be enrolled as a full-time degree seeking student in the fields: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Math Education, Physic, Pre-Engineering, Science Education, or Zoology. Have an overall GPA of at least a 2.8 and a STEM GPA of 3.0, demonstrate financial need and preferentially be a member of underrepresented groups (first-generation, woman, or racial/ethnic minority). Morehead State University

KCTCS Transfer Scholarship:

Award: $4,500 per year.To be eligible, students must have completed 30 or more college credit hours and have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA must be a new transfer to MSU. This scholarship is automatic to those who qualify. May 31 is the PRIORITY deadline. Please click the scholarship title to view the full scope of this award, including restrictions. Also, please note that this is a scholarship and NOT a "tuition lock" or " tuition match." While the award does bring tuition down to roughly the same rate as KCTCS, it's not quite the same.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship:

This scholarship is stackable with the KCTCS Transfer Scholarship and the award is $1,000 per year. This scholarship does require a separate application and has a hard May 31 deadline. Only 5 PTK scholarships will be awarded but this is a great opportunity to receive some additional funding. Please click on the scholarship title to view the requirements and additional information.

Trustees Scholarship - competitive, must apply

  • KCTCS tuition rate at UK for up to two years. Must transfer for the fall semester; be a currently enrolled full-time KCTCS student the spring semester before transfer; complete an Associate in Arts or Science degree prior to transfer - with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. ***Not automatic; Must apply by June 1st!


Kentucky Tradition Scholarship - award based on funding availability

  • Currently enrolled KCTCS students with 40 hours by the end of the spring semester (with at least 24 earned at KCTCS) and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30, who transfer to UK for the fall term will be considered for a $6,000 scholarship, payable as $3,000 per year for up to two years, or $1,500 per semester for up to four semesters. Award based on academic credentials provided with admission application, date of acceptance and funding availability. This award may be offered in addition to the Trustees Scholarship.

Wildcat Welcome Scholarship - award based on funding availability

  • All other transfer students with a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA, that are currently enrolled at an accredited institution and will have 24 hours by the end of the spring term, who transfer to UK for the fall term will be offered a $1,500 one-year, non-renewable award, payable as $750 per semester for up to two semesters. Award based on academic credentials provided with admission application, date of acceptance and funding availability.

William C. Parker: Application plus an essay documenting how you can contribute to diversity at UK. $2500 one time award. Must enroll on the Lexington campus; not hold a baccalaureate degree; have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and completed 24 credits; transfer for the fall semester; be a currently enrolled student the spring before transfer. University of Kentucky - Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship: Students transferring to the University of Kentucky for a Fall semester that are current members of Phi Theta Kappa, are eligible to compete for a limited number of Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarships. Awards offered through this program will provide full tuition for in-state student recipients, and provide the difference between resident and non-resident tuition rates for non-resident recipients. The postmark deadline to submit the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship application and all supporting documentation is June 1. Application can be found here:



University of Louisville

Amount: $500 - $3,000

Awards are merit-based and typically range from $500 to $3,000 per year for 2014-2015 academic year, split over the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters. Students enrolled part-time will receive a partial award. All eligible students will be awarded; Phi Theta Kappa members may be eligible for an additional stipend. Students who transfer to UofL during the Spring 2014 semester are eligible to apply if requirements are met. Spring 2014 hours and grades at UofL will not be considered in scholarship eligibility (any UofL work completed prior to Spring 2014 will be included). Students transferring from a KCTCS institution with an Associate's Degree (received prior to their first fall semester as a transfer student), who enroll full-time and apply between February 1 and April 1, receive the following automatic award (transfer scholarship application required) at WKU for up to 2 academic years: $4000 with overall cumulative GPA 3.75+ (renewable with 3.25 GPA), $3000 with overall cumulative GPA 3.5-3.7499 (renewable with 3.25 GPA), $2000 with overall cumulative GPA 3.25-3.499 (renewable with 3.25 GPA),$1500 with overall cumulative GPA 3.0-3.2499 (renewable with 3.0 GPA) Students must earn at least 24 hours at the end of their first academic year with the appropriate GPA (see above) for the award to be renewed the following year. Students that do not meet renewal criteria at the end of their first academic year can use the following summer semester to rehabilitate (at their own expense) and eligibility for the award will be re-evaluated.
