Mandatory Employee Trainings
All newly hired employees (including student workers) are required to complete mandatory training and review and acknowledge KCTCS policies. You will receive an email from KCTCS Training when your access is granted. Please complete steps 1-3 within 30 days to ensure that you are in compliance. Step 4 must be completed by regular full-time employees within their first 6 months of employment. If you have completed these steps since August 21, 2017 you do not need to take action at this time.
TRAINING ONE: Complete the Bridges: Taking Action Course
This course is provided by LawRoom/Everfi. To best avoid technical difficulties in
accessing this training, please use a desktop or laptop computer. The training will
work with an IPad, but WILL NOT work on a smart phone or other tablet.
Before beginning the training, please ensure you are using one of the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer 11
This course should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The course will automatically save your progress if you cannot complete it in one sitting. This course will help you learn to support students and fellow employees, and covers the following topics:
- Definitions of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and consent;
- Safe and positive options for bystander intervention;
- Strategies for responding to student reports, and;
- Information on risk reduction.
Bridges-Taking Action Course
If you have technical difficulties with the trainings, please refer to 24/7 support from Lawroom/Everfi at: support.lawroom.com or, contact your local Technology Solutions representative.
TRAINING TWO: KCTCS Policy Review and Certification
This part of the training requires that you read and acknowledge the following policies:
- 3.3.1 Harassment Free Workplace
- 3.3.13 Substance Abuse (with appendix)
- 4.2.5 Information Technology Responsible Use
After you click on the Policy Review and Certification link below, go to the Policies tab on the top right of the page. From there please click the Read Now hyperlink and read the policies. Then click the sign or re-sign hyperlink.
If you are a newly hired employee, you must also complete the following courses
- Course 010 Introduction to Information Security
- Course 202 Harassment Free Work Place
After you click on the Policy Review and Certification link below, go to the Courses tab on the top right of the page. From there click the Start hyperlink and begin the course.
TRAINING THREE: KCTCS B.E.S.T Safety Training (OSHA)
All BCTC employees must complete Hazardous Communications training. For most employees this is a one-time endeavor; but for those using potentially hazardous materials (i.e. maintenance and operations staff, laboratory workers, workers in technical programs where hazardous materials may be used), this is an annual requirement.
TRAINING FOUR: CULTURAL SENSITIVITY TRAINING
All regular full-time employees are required to attend Cultural Sensitivity Training takes place for all new hires each semester. Human Resources will include future training dates and instructions for enrollment in the hiring packets providing during new employee orientations.

We are asking everyone to commit to create an environment—be it in class, at a club or a bar, a locker room or an entire college campus— where sexual assault is unacceptable. Raising awareness. Holding ourselves and each other accountable. Looking out for those who cannot consent.
We invite you to take the It's On Us online training. Although you are not required to take the training program, we strongly encourage your participation to make a positive contribution to your campus community.
You can also take the It's On Us pledge to make a stand against sexual assault and intimate partner violence.
