BCTC up for 10-year SACSCOC Review and Visit in September

BCTC is currently in the process of reaffirming accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The SACSCOC on-site review team will visit BCTC campuses Sept. 22-26.
The SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. The mission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions. School evaluations take place every ten years.
The SACSCOC core values are integrity, continuous quality improvement, peer review/self-regulation, accountability and student learning and transparency.
An affirmative SACSCOC evaluation confirms standards of quality in education and operation,assures the quality of degrees awarded to students and the acceptability of transfer credits,allows students to qualify for federal financial aid and authorizes institutions to disburse federal financial aid to their students.
BCTC functional areas, Academics, Finance, M&I, Organizational Advancement and SDEM, were divided into five teams and employees within those areas were selected for to prepare for SACSCOC. The BCTC SACSCOC teams are: Mission, Planning, & Assessment,Teaching and Learning, Student and Academic Services, Finances, Facilities & Operations and Governance & Personnel.
