BCTC welcomes new board member

LEXINGTON, KY — Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is pleased to welcome Olivia Johnson Scholz to the BCTC Board of Directors.
Scholz, a native of the Bluegrass, founded the Bluegrass Business Cooperative (BGBC) that serves small businesses throughout the region. The BGBC provides guidance that helps independent businesses save money while improving operational efficiency. In addition, Scholz serves as the president and chief financial officer for St. John & Myers Jewelry.
"Ms. Scholz brings a wealth of experience in business development and management to BCTC,” said Dr. Koffi Akakpo, BCTC president. “I look forward to working with her as we serve our students, faculty, staff and community.”
Scholz was appointed by Governor Bevin to serve on the BCTC Board of Directors through Oct. 15, 2025.
"It is an honor to be appointed to the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Board of Directors," Scholz said. "I have a passion for Kentucky’s independent businesses and their continued success. I also have a passion for students and building business relationships that will provide Kentucky’s students opportunity.”
Scholz will join the board at the Dec. 4 board meeting.
