Free Informational Orientation Session on Ophthalmic Assisting

Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s (BCTC) Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with UK Advanced Eye Care and the Bluegrass Workforce Innovation Board, will be offering an informational orientation session July 8 at UK Advanced Eye Care in Lexington, Ky, for a free Ophthalmic Assisting career training program.

Ophthalmic Assistants work with an ophthalmologist or optometrist to provide patient eye care. The Ophthalmic Assisting program will include 36 hours of classroom/lab training followed by a flexible 320-hour paid live internship. Possible job placement upon successful completion of this program may be included.

Selected program participants will need to pay approximately $60 for a background check and drug screening to participate in the program.

The orientation will be held at UK Advanced Eye Care, 110 Conn Terrace (New Shriners Hospital), in the 5th floor conference room.

Parking is available at UK Healthcare Parking Garage, 110 Transcript Avenue, next to Shriner’s Hospital. Participants in the orientation are asked to bring a short resume, driver’s license or passport, and a Social Security card to the session. Non-U.S. citizens need to bring a Permanent Resident card. Veterans should also bring a DD214.
