BCTC receives grant to provide free tuition and career training

LEXINGTON, KY - The US Department of Labor awarded Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC)
a grant providing eligible students free tuition, personal and career counseling,
and job placement assistance. Participants will earn a credential and be career ready
in 12 months or less.
The Bluegrass Workforce Scholars Program is designed to help individuals ages 16-24 who are US citizens, legal residents or DACA eligible and demonstrate financial need gain skills to begin a career in a high-demand field such as healthcare, computer information technology, HVAC technology, construction, criminal justice, electrical technology, equine studies, industrial maintenance, medical information technology and welding.
The grant provides funding for full tuition, books and supplies for courses, personal and career counseling, job readiness preparation, support services and job placement assistance upon completion. Costs for transportation, childcare, computers and internet hotspots may also be covered. Participants will earn an academic credential in 12 months or less and be ready to go to work.
