Lexington, KY – Kentucky Community and Technical College System Acting President Larry Ferguson announced the unanimous selection of Greg J. Feeney, Ph.D., as president and CEO of Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
A 25-year employee of BCTC and its former provost, Feeney has been serving as the college’s interim president since July. He was selected to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Koffi C. Akakpo, Ph.D., BCTC’s former president.
“This is such exciting news for BCTC and the greater Lexington area,” said Ferguson, who served on the 18-member selection committee. “Dr. Feeney brings a long record of leadership and accomplishment to the position, while also serving as a passionate advocate for student success both in the classroom and as students transition to the workforce.”
As the college’s provost, Feeney wore multiple hats as chief academic officer, chief student affairs officer, and he provided leadership for adult education and workforce development.
Feeney has also served in other administrative roles at the college, including as vice president of academics and workforce development, dean of academics, dean of academic support, and assistant dean of history, languages and social sciences. He achieved the faculty rank of full professor and has been at BCTC since 1998.
“I am so excited to serve as Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s next president,” said Feeney. “It has been my honor to spend 25 years of my career at
this incredible institution, and I look forward to working with the amazing team we have here, our incredible community partners, and taking this institution to the next step.”
“There are only good things ahead,” added Feeney.
Feeney earned a doctorate, with an emphasis in interpersonal and health communication, from the University of Kentucky. He also completed a master’s degree with an emphasis in communication theory and organizational communication from Northern Illinois University.
Feeney’s start date will likely be within a few days.
