Bluegrass Community and Technical College Instructional Designer Honored with Exemplary Course Award

Lexington, KY – Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is proud to announce that Instructional Designer Greg Rickert was recognized by their peers with the Exemplary Course Program (ECP) Award. The ECP Award, presented by Anthology, recognizes faculty and course designers from schools, colleges, and universities around the world who develop engaging and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning.
This year, Greg Rickert’s course, COM 181- Basic Public Speaking, stood out among numerous submissions to win this distinguished award. The course has been celebrated for its excellence across four critical components:
- Course Design: A well-constructed course framework that clearly outlines learning objectives and employs effective instructional strategies.
- Interaction and Collaboration: Exceptional levels of student engagement with ample opportunities for collaboration and interaction.
- Assessment: Robust evaluation mechanisms aligned with learning outcomes, providing a meaningful assessment of student achievement.
- Learner Support: Comprehensive support resources available to students, ensuring a supportive learning environment within and outside the course structure.
The Exemplary Course Program, which has flourished for nearly two decades, highlights the groundbreaking achievements of educators and course designers around the world.

“It is an honor to have my public speaking class recognized as an exemplary course and join other BCTC and KCTCS faculty who have achieved exemplary status,” said Professor Grey Rickert. “Online education continues to evolve so I’m sure there will be ways to continue to enhance the student experience in online public speaking classes. It is important for faculty to seek continuous improvement for all courses, but continuous improvement is critical in online classes due to the wide range of students we encounter.”
