BCTC Welcomes Alan Lawson as New Vice President of Data Strategy and Innovation

Alan LawsonLEXINGTON, KY – Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) is proud to welcome back Alan Lawson as the new Vice President of Data Strategy and Innovation. Lawson returns to BCTC with over a decade of experience in data analytics, institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, and accreditation within the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) and brings a proven track record of leadership and innovation in higher education.

Lawson previously held multiple leadership positions at BCTC from 2011 to 2019, including Director of Institutional Planning, Research, and Effectiveness, SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison, and Director of Grants and Contracts. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Accreditation at KCTCS, where he played a key role in systemwide strategic planning, data analysis, accreditation support, and institutional research initiatives.

In his new role, Lawson will lead BCTC’s data strategy to enhance student success, support institutional decision-making, and ensure continuous improvement across the college. His efforts will drive innovation in how data is leveraged to improve outcomes and deliver on the college’s mission of student access, equity, and excellence.

Lawson holds a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is widely respected for his collaborative approach and data-informed leadership.
