Scott Education & Community Foundation Donates $10,000 to Expand Access to Dual Credit Opportunities for Scott County Students

GEORGETOWN, KY - Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is honored to announce a generous
$10,000 donation from the Scott Education & Community Foundation to support the Scott
County Dual Credit Scholarship Program. This contribution will help remove financial
barriers for local high school students seeking to participate in dual credit coursework.
Dual credit programs allow high school students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously, creating a more affordable and accelerated path to college and career success. Research shows that students who participate in dual credit are more likely to persist in college, complete credentials, and enter the workforce sooner.
As interest in early college opportunities grows, BCTC’s dual credit enrollment has seen significant increases. “Dual credit courses equip students with both college and high school credit, preparing them for employment or university transfer,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, BCTC President. “We’re grateful to the Scott Education & Community Foundation for making this opportunity more accessible to all students in Scott County.”
Tom Prather, Chair of the Scott Education & Community Foundation Board, emphasized the alignment of the gift with the organization’s mission. “The Scott Education Foundation was established to empower young people to become leaders and changemakers in our community,” said Prather. “Expanding access to dual credit for students with financial need is one of the most direct ways we can invest in their future and in the future of Scott County.”
