Bluegrass Community and Technical College Announces New College Advisory Council

LEXINGTON, KY — Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) has announced the formation of
its new College Advisory Council (CAC), bringing together regional leaders, community partners, and representatives from
the college’s students, faculty, and staff to help strengthen BCTC’s connections throughout
Central Kentucky.
The CAC will serve as a structured mechanism for connecting regional insight, workforce needs, community priorities, and external partnerships to the college’s strategic direction and impact. Members will provide valuable perspectives to help BCTC strengthen partnerships with employers, education providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders while supporting the college’s commitment to student access, success, and workforce development.
“These individuals bring meaningful connections to BCTC through their professional accomplishments, community partnerships, and service to our region,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, BCTC Chancellor. “Each member offers a unique perspective, but they share something especially important: a genuine commitment to our students and to the communities we serve. Their experience, expertise, and dedication to improving opportunities for others will help us strengthen partnerships, identify emerging needs, and advance BCTC’s mission of creating a better life for our students and communities.”
The CAC includes leaders representing healthcare, banking, business and economic development, agriculture, manufacturing, community organizations, and education, along with representatives from BCTC’s student body, faculty, and staff.
Members of the BCTC College Advisory Council are:

- Rob Shear — Komatsu North America
- Matt Smith — Clark Regional Medical Center
- Julia Terrell — BCTC Staff Representative
Through its work, the council will provide an important external perspective on issues and opportunities affecting BCTC and the communities it serves. Members will help the college better understand evolving workforce demands, identify opportunities for collaboration, strengthen pathways between education and employment, and expand relationships that support students from enrollment through graduation and into successful careers or transfer.
The council will also provide a forum for two-way dialogue, allowing BCTC to share its strategic priorities and progress while hearing directly from leaders who understand the economic, educational, and community needs of the region.
“BCTC does not do this work alone,” Feeney added. “Our success is closely connected to the strength of our partnerships. This council gives us another meaningful way to listen, collaborate, and ensure that the work we are doing remains responsive to the students, employers, and communities that depend on us.”
The College Advisory Council will convene three times this academic year, with its inaugural meeting scheduled for December 9, 2026.
