BCTC names Winchester resident as 2010 Alumnus of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 20, 2010) Bluegrass Community and Technical Colleges 2010 Alumnus of the Year is a Winchester resident who has made outstanding contributions to the facilities management field, community and the college.

Greg Wood was recognized during the 2010 BCTC commencement ceremony held on May 8 in Frankfort. Wood serves as Director of Operations for CB Richard Ellis, which is responsible for the facilities management for the Lexmark Corporate Headquarters. Previously he spent 30 years with IBM and Lexmark International, Inc in Lexington.

Wood began his education in 1978 at Central Kentucky State Vocational Technical School, the previous name of the current BCTC Leestown Campus. In 1986, he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Lexington Community College. The two schools merged in 2005 to become BCTC.

Wood is an active member of the Lexington and Winchester communities. He has volunteered at Gods Pantry, Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon, and various United Way Care Day projects. He is also a former Clark County Baseball Boosters Director and Past President, coach for Clark County Youth Sports and an active member of Central Baptist Church in Winchester.

He has also served for over 15 years on the BCTC Electronics Advisory Board in Lexington, providing both guidance and active support throughout the years.
