National Award Winning Poet to Speak at BCTC
Nikky Finney will be the keynote speaker at the sixth annual Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) Changing Classroom Cultures Conference. Finney won the 2011 National Book Award for poetry last November for her collection Head Off amp; Split. A native of Lexington, Finney is a professor of creative writing at the University of Kentucky and is a Provosts Distinguished Service Professor.
We are very excited to announce that Nikky Finney, a national award winning poet, will serve as our keynote speaker and that we also have faculty presenting at the conference from six Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) colleges, said Dave Hellmich, vice president of academics at BCTC.
BCTC's Changing Classroom Cultures Conference will be held February 17 and 18 at BCTC's Cooper campus, 470 Cooper Drive in Lexington. Sessions at the conference will include: classroom management; on-line instruction; adjunct survival in the classroom; Read for Life; innovative and creative classroom teaching and assessment and test construction.
