Roofing and Sheet Metal Company's Endowment Supports Architectural Technology Students

Photo of Don HarpringLEXINGTON, KY (May 14, 2007) Don Harpring, President of Tri State Roofing and Sheet Metal Company, made a commitment in 2002 to establishing an endowment to provide scholarships for students majoring in Architectural Technology at the then Lexington Community College (LCC). Today, almost everything including the college's name has changed, but not Mr. Harpring's commitment.

"We have a strong belief in the value of returning something to the community in which we live and work. I cannot think of a better way than to provide financial support for the training of the young men and women who will lead our community through the 21st century," said Harpring.

The gift, recently presented to Dr. James Kerley, President of Bluegrass Community & Technical College, brings the endowment Harpring started in 2002 to a self-sustaining level.

The $2,000 gift will fund a $1,000 scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year. The remaining funds will be applied to the endowment that will generate funds for future scholarships.
