Project on Saturday, November 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at BCTC’s Georgetown Campus. This free event is designed to encourage middle and high school girls to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing, a high-wage, high-demand career field in Kentucky.

The event is the third in a series that will feature female instructors and industry professionals from Corning Incorporated providing hands-on activities and an industry tour at BCTC’s Advanced Manufacturing Center. The day's exploration covers electricity, engineering, computer-aided design and industrial maintenance, encouraging girls to consider careers in advanced manufacturing.

"We are very excited about the positive response to the Girls Can, Too! NSF project," says Laura Lynch, the Girls Can, Too! Project Coordinator at Bluegrass Community and Technical College. "The response by females in industry has been fantastic! They’ve shared their journeys, mentored, and invited us in to tour their workplaces. This response goes beyond girls learning to use tools and all the career possibilities when gender is set aside.”

The project is funded by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant.
