LEXINGTON, KY – Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) receives the Outstanding Community Partner Award from Beta Gamma Omega of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The 19th Annual Coretta Scott King “Spirit of Ivy” (SOI) Awards luncheon presented by the Beta Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Pearls of Service Foundation, Inc. was held on Saturday, January 13, 2024. This luncheon honored local women and organizations who exemplify the Spirit of the Ivy-Strength and Endurance.
This year’s honorees were recognized in ten different categories: Business Owner, Outstanding Educator, Single Mother, Community Leader, Connector, Creative and Performing Arts, Young Entrepreneur, Outstanding First Responder, Outstanding Organization, and Community Partner.
“We are honored to be recognized as the Outstanding Community Partner by the first historically African American sorority. It is more meaningful that it commemorates the late Mrs. Coretta Scott King,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, President/CEO of BCTC. “Partnerships are a vital part of what we do at BCTC, and this partnership has helped us reach our goal better of supporting our students in their success in reaching their goals. Thank you, Beta Gamma Omega Chapter, for doing what you do for our community. This award means so much more coming from an organization like this that is all about community and making it better,” said Feeney.
SOI Awards program was held at the Lexington Hilton Downtown on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at noon.
