Mayor Linda Gorton and the 250Lex Commission have designated the month of March as Education Month. BCTC will kick off the College Town Showcase of a day of fun, exploring, and highlighting the unique programs and services that are offered for the community and potential students to prepare for the workforce.

“Since our earliest days, our city has been a hub for higher education,” Mayor Linda Gorton said today. “Fast forward to present day, Lexington is home to some of the finest, innovative colleges and universities that have become the cornerstones of our community.”

BCTC is excited to invite the Lexington community to the College Town Showcase, a celebration of the past, present, and future of higher education. The event will take place at the Newtown Campus on Thursday, March 27th, from 2-6 pm. Attendees can enjoy campus tours, a commemoration of our 85 years of Legacy of Learning, a resource fair featuring student organizations, services, and community partners, along with fresh kettle corn and free swag. Additional support for applications and financial aid will be available in the Den Building. At 5:00 p.m., the 250Lex Scholarship, valued at $3,000, will be awarded. Scholarship applications for Lexington residents will be open from March 1 to March 25. This event is free and open to the public.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mayor Linda Gorton and the 250Lex Commission for inviting Bluegrass Community and Technical College to be a part of this significant celebration of 250 years of Lexington’s rich history,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, President/CEO. “This year, BCTC is commemorating its 85th year, marking a Legacy of Learning that has shaped the lives of thousands of students and their futures. We are proud to be part of this milestone as we join in celebrating 250 years of Lexington’s vibrant history. Both anniversaries are a testament to the enduring spirit of growth, education, and community.”
