Lexington, KY – Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) is proud to announce the premiere
of Oscillate is Dead, a feature film created through the college’s Filmmaking and
Cinematic Arts program. The premiere will take place on Friday, September 26, at 9:30
p.m. at the historic State Theatre in Lexington. Admission is free and open to the
public.
Oscillate is Dead was written and directed by Matthew Kistenmacher and filmed over the course of three semesters as part of BCTC’s Film Bootcamp. The film stars BCTC students alongside local actors, showcasing the depth of talent and creativity in the region.
BCTC’s Certificate in Filmmaking and Cinematic Arts provides students with a hands-on, project-based overview of all elements of filmmaking. From script development and art design to production, editing, and distribution, the program prepares students to explore careers in the film industry. Students gain practical experience in producing, directing, screenwriting, art direction, cinematography, lighting, sound, set design, editing, scoring, and more. The program emphasizes the collaborative nature of filmmaking while offering opportunities to work directly with industry professionals.
“This premiere highlights the extraordinary creativity and dedication of our students and faculty,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, BCTC President/CEO. “Through programs like Filmmaking and Cinematic Arts, we are preparing the next generation of storytellers and strengthening Kentucky’s creative economy.”
“We are so proud of the talent, vision, and hard work of our students,” said Stephanie Fitch, Program Coordinator of Filmmaking and Cinematic Arts. “This film represents not only their growth as artists but also the spirit of collaboration that defines our program.”
The premiere is a celebration of student achievement, community partnership, and the growth of filmmaking opportunities in central Kentucky.
