Lexington, KY – Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s (BCTC) Share the Love Campaign begins
February 10 – February 28 (extended from February 21).
The Share the Love Campaign is a holistic initiative designed to support future students, current students, and community partners. Throughout the campaign, prospective students are invited to apply for admission, with each application entered into a raffle for a free laptop. Additionally, for every application submitted, a community partner will contribute $1. All funds raised will go toward the BCTC HEART Food Pantry, which assists BCTC students experiencing food insecurity.
Food insecurity is increasing every year amongst college students. It impacts student success, including academic performance and mental health. The HEART of BCTC was created for students who may need additional resources during their time at the college. The HEART of BCTC provides food, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and more to enhance a student's overall well-being.
“Our HEART Food Pantry has been instrumental in supporting students who need food and other essential items,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, BCTC President/CEO. “When food insecurity is reduced or eliminated for college students, several positive outcomes can follow. Reducing food insecurity can make it easier for students to persist through challenges, reducing the likelihood of dropping out due to financial or food-related struggles. This campaign is a perfect example of how our community collaborates to ensure students thrive.” said Feeney.
“The Share the Love Campaign has been a very meaningful initiative for the last four years,” said Shelbie Hugle, AVP of Public Relations, Marketing, and Admissions. Each year, we seem to surpass the number of applications received during these two weeks, which means we are contributing to more support for the HEART. I love that this program is holistic and makes a real impact on student access, success, and the involvement of our community.”
