Charlene Walker was nominated by the photo of charlene walkerKentucky Commission on Human Rights for the 2017 Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame. Walker, vice president of Multiculturalism and Inclusion at BCTC, started at an early age to help integrate her elementary school in Hazard, Ky., and has spent the rest of her life bringing people together and finding opportunities for growth in human and civil rights, and education and employment.

A team of students and faculty from the Kentucky Space Grant Consortium at Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) will launch a high-altitude balloon on Aug. 21 as part of a nationwide, NASA-sponsored project to live-stream aerial video footage of the "Great American Eclipse."

Bluegrass Community and Technical College(BCTC) student Andrew Boyce has accepted a fellowship with the antipoverty advocacy organization, RESULTS. He recently returned from an international RESULTS conference in Washington, DC, which included a number of panel discussions on domestic and global poverty issues, workshops on media outreach, the legislative process, and strategies for speaking to legislators and their staffs.
