Winburn Youth Services Coordinator Named BCTC 2007 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year

Photo of Terrona Cobble-JohnsonLEXINGTON, KY (May 14, 2007) Terrona Cobble-Johnson, Youth Services Center Coordinator at Winburn Middle School was named the Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) 2007 Alumnus of the Year.

Cobble-Johnson, a 1992 graduate of the former Lexington Community College, now BCTC, was chosen because of her dedication to community work on behalf of Lexington's youth. Her involvement in the community includes the Community Action Advisory Board, Roots & Heritage Teen Conference Chair, F.L.Y. Girls Program Coordinator, and the Domestic Violence Prevention Board. Her voluntary efforts include Kentucky Special Olympics, Kentucky School Board Association Youth Forum, and the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence.

She has distinguished herself and the college by being a role model and inspiration to the Bluegrass Community, said Charlene Walker, BCTC Vice President Multicultural Affairs, who nominated Cobble-Johnson for the award.

Gary Mackin, BCTC Alumni Association President, presented the award to Johnson at the BCTC Commencement Ceremony, held at the Lexington Civic Center on May 6, 2007.
