Welcome to Alpha Phi Kappa, the BCTC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa!

Who are we?

Alpha Phi Kappa is a registered student organization of Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Our chapter was first chartered in 1992. We believe in high scholastic achievement, giving back to our community and having fun! We are officially a chapter of the international Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

What is Phi Theta Kappa?

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for students in two-year colleges and is currently the largest honor society in American higher education. This prestigious society provides its members with many programs and services dedicated to excellence in academics as well as an opportunity to meet other students and support the community in which they live.

Mission

"The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence."

Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold

  • Recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students.
  • Provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.
