Refugee Career Laddering

The Refugee Career Laddering Program tackles the persistent challenge of underemployment among refugees in Lexington by going beyond the initial resettlement to focus on rapid job placement. While early employment is critical for stability, it often limits opportunities to build on prior education, professional experience, or long-term goals—especially when language barriers push skilled individuals into low-wage, entry-level jobs. This program provides a strategic next step: individualized career laddering plans, connections to continuing education and professional development, and access to industry-recognized credentials. By helping participants transition from survival jobs to sustainable careers aligned with their skills and aspirations, the program promotes economic mobility, workforce integration, and long-term self-sufficiency.
