On April 25, BCTC joined the other 15 KCTCS colleges in a 24-hour fundraiser. In a single day, BCTC raised $147,414 in support of student services, like the HEART food pantry; student scholarships, like the Judy Johnson Endowment; and emergency support for our students, like the Tyler Vincent Burcham Student Emergency Fund.

The college can attribute the success of Giving Day to the support of 91 donors who contributed over 100 gifts. The gifts allow BCTC to help our students who have the greatest need and challenges facing them as they pursue higher education. The college’s primary need is to support the HEART food pantry. Food insecurity is a significant issue facing Kentucky’s community college students, with 25% reporting low food security. By providing access to nutritious food, BCTC hopes to provide a supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

“We work hard to support our students, so they can have a better life,” said Dr. Greg Feeney, President/CEO. “For 2023-24, 20% of our funding was from state appropriations, 47% was from tuition, leaving 33% from fundraising and grant development. The 16 community colleges have the most affordable tuition in the state, and we are dedicated to keeping it there. Our community partners help us make up the difference which leads to a significant impact on student success. Charitable contributions help our institution transform lives and we are grateful for the support,” said Feeney.

The BCTC Foundation would like to thank a few donors in particular who helped make the day a success: Skip Johnson, Harry and Betty Hall, Tee Bergman, Brian Hall, and Tim Burcham. Thank you to everyone who made a gift in support of BCTC students!

The donations are the gift that keeps on giving. You may make a meaningful impact for the students today and the students to come by visiting the BCTC Giving website or contact Mark Manuel, Vice President of Advancement, at mark.manuel@kctcs.edu.
