Costs and Financial Verification

Before international students are formally admitted, they must provide verification that they have the funds necessary to pay for a year of study and living expenses in the United States, or that a Third Party intends to pay on their behalf. Applicants do this by submitting a Financial Verification Form and the bank statement in English from the individuals or groups who are paying their expenses.

A student's tuition rate depends on his or her residency status. The Kentucky Residency page has information about BCTC residency guidelines. Typically, students with an F-1 visa pay out-of-state tuition unless they attended and graduated from a secondary school in Kentucky.

Expense Out-of-State Cost In-State Cost
Tuition (2 semesters) $6,000* $4,368*
Living expenses $8,000 $8,000
Books, Medical Insurance (required) $1,500 $1,500
TOTAL $15,500** $13,868

Planning Financially for your Degree

Planning to begin your education in the United States is an exciting time. It is incredibly important to ensure that you make plans to be financially stable during your stay in the US, so that you can focus fully on your studies. Since F-1 and M-1 students are not eligible to work more than 20 hours (must be on-campus), it is important to verify your funds before leaving your home country. There are many things that you need to take into account when planning financially for your studies at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
