Selective Admission: Associate Degree Nursing (to become an RN)

Initial Admission

The process for applying is a Complete Application Packet format. Students must submit all documents below in one envelope to be considered for the program.

Deadline to Apply for Spring 2024: November 1, 2023

Deadline to Apply for Fall 2024: March 1, 2024

Step 1. Create a Selective Admissions System account (new window). Once you have an active account you can print a program checklist to begin the process. You must submit the checklist with your packet. Please make sure you select no more than two campus locations. You can apply for a total of two selective admission programs.

Step 2. Students who are not currently enrolled in classes at BCTC must fill out an application for admission (new window). Students who are currently enrolled in classes at BCTC will not need to reapply. 

Step 3. Attend a mandatory preadmission conference with the Program Coordinator. Please refer to the preadmission conference website for dates and location. A conference attendance form will need to be submitted in your packet. 

Step 4. Gather the following additional documents for your packet (these are listed on the checklist):

  • Official scores of the ATI:TEAS Entrance Exam must be current within 3 years. (NOTE: Exam can be taken every 30 days up to 3 times a year) The application process is competitive and based upon ATI: TEAS Examination and GPA.
  • Official ATI:TEAS prep materials can be found at https://atitesting.com/teas/teas-prep

ADN Initial Admission Ranking Categories

Students will be ranked within each category 1st by TEAS score and 2nd GPA. Must meet all requirements in Rank Category to maintain Rank.

BIO 137 grade will only be utilized in the Rank 4 Category.

  • TEAS score ≥ 90.7
  • GPA ≥ 3.0
  • TEAS score 78.0-90.6
  • GPA ≥ 2.75
  • TEAS score 58.7-77.9
  • GPA ≥ 2.5
  • TEAS score 41.3-58.6
  • GPA ≥2.5
  • BIO 137 grade of "B" or better

Advanced Standing

Students who qualify as Advanced Standing

  • Have taken nursing courses at an accredited college.
  • Have taken nursing courses at BCTC.
  • LPN or PN applicant must have graduated, passed the NCLEX-PN within one year of application to the program OR provide verification of at least one year of full-time employment as a LPN within the last three years.
