
Selective Admission: Associate Degree Nursing (to become an RN)
Initial Admission
The process for applying is submission of a complete admissions packet. Students must submit all documents below in one envelope to be considered for the program.
Deadline to Apply for Spring 2026: October 15, 2025
Deadline to Apply for Fall 2026: March 1, 2026
Step 1. Create a Selective Admissions System account (new window). Once you have an active account you can print a program checklist to begin the process. You can apply for a total of two selective admission programs per term.
Step 2. Students who are not currently enrolled in classes at BCTC must fill out an application for admission (new window). Students who are currently enrolled in classes at BCTC will not need to reapply.
Step 3. Attend an annual mandatory preadmission conference with the Program Coordinator. Please refer to the preadmission conference website for dates and location. A conference attendance form will need to be submitted in your packet.
Step 4. Gather the following additional documents for your packet (these are listed on the checklist):
- Official scores of the ATI:TEAS Entrance Exam. (NOTE: Exam can be taken every 30 days up to 3 times a year). Scores may be no more than three years old as of the packet submission deadline date.
- Official ATI:TEAS prep materials can be found at https://atitesting.com/teas/teas-prep
To schedule the exam, please visit the ATI:TEAS website (new window) and select BCTC as your testing location. For additional assistance, contact the Assessment Center at (859) 246-6669 or email BL_Testing@kctcs.edu. - Official transcripts of all post-secondary education attempted. Transcripts must be submitted from EACH college or university previously attended and must show every period of enrollment. If transcripts have already been submitted for general admission to KCTCS then you do not need to include second copies of these transcripts in your packet. Transcripts from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System do not need to be submitted.
Step 5. Turn in your completed packet to the Office of Admissions, Newtown Campus - The Den, by the deadline. Please allow 10 business days for your admissions packet to be processed and entered into SAS. You will receive an automated e-mail informing you when your packet has been processed and entered. To check on the status of your packet you will need to login to your Selective Admissions System account (new window).

ADN Initial Admission Ranking Categories
- ATI TEAS Minimum Score 41.30
- Minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.500, or equivalent prerequisite GPA
- Completion of prerequisite courses by deadline is preferred, but is not required to submit your packet.

Advanced Standing
Students who may qualify as Advanced Standing
- Have taken nursing courses at an accredited college.
- Have taken nursing courses at BCTC.
- LPN or PN applicant must have graduated, passed the NCLEX-PN within one year of application to the program OR provide verification of at least one year of full-time employment as a LPN within the last three years.

For additional assistance, contact the Assessment Center at (859) 246-6669 or email BL_Testing@kctcs.edu. - Transfer applicants seeking to transfer into BCTC’s Nursing program from a Nursing program at another college must submit 2 letters of faculty support addressed to the BCTC Nursing program. One letter must be from a Nursing program administrator, and one from a clinical instructor. Letters must include each faculty’s position & contact information.
- LPN to RN Applicants who graduated from an accredited LPN program more than one year ago must submit verification of at least one year of full-time employment as a LPN within the last three years. (Letter from employer listing positions held, dates of employment, and supervisor contact information)
- Students applying for readmission must submit two letters of recommendation. One must be from the Nursing program coordinator. Another must be from full-time BCTC Nursing program faculty.
