Advising

Please follow the steps to make an appointment based on your student status.

Please contact us before coming to campus for an advising appointment so we can make sure you have all test scores and documents needed to enroll in courses.

We now offer placement testing and free parking at the Newtown Campus!

Services

Advising and Registration for Current BCTC students opens October 1st for Spring Classes and March 1st for Summer and Fall Classes.

To identify and contact your assigned advisor:

  4. Lower right corner --- Advisor name (email) and phone number

To Schedule an Advising Appointment:

Check your KCTCS email for communication from your assigned advisor.
This will provide you with directions on how to schedule your
appointment.

Various technologies may be used for advising
appointments, including Starfish, Bookings, Teams, Acuity. For additional

Guides.

To Complete an Advising Evaluation:

After any advising appointment you may complete an Advisor Evaluation.

Exception: If you are returning from academic suspension do not schedule an advising appointment. Upon reinstatement, the Academic Suspension Reinstatement Specialist will advise and register you for classes initially. You will be assigned an academic advisor after enrollment. Following reinstatement, the Reinstatement Specialist will advise and register you for classes. Review the Academic Suspension Reinstatement Guide to understand the reinstatement process.

Visiting and non-degree college students need to be enrolled by an advisor or the registrar’s office. Students can complete the Course Enrollment Request form or email bl-visitingstudents-advising@kctcs.edu.

Placement testing needs to be completed before you attend your advising session. We recommend you use one of our study guides for math and/or verbal. A photo ID is required for testing.

For testing at the Regional Campuses (Danville, Georgetown, Lawrenceburg, Winchester) please contact that campus for information.  See Regional Campus information.

For testing at the Leestown Campus Testing Center, Schedule your appointment online. Evening testing is available on Wednesday's at Leestown only.

Walk-in testing is available on Newtown Campus Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
