Selective Admission: Associate Degree Nursing (to become an RN)

Initial Admission

The process for applying is a Complete Application Packet format. Students must submit all documents below in one envelope to be considered for the program.

Deadline to Apply for Spring 2025: October 15, 2024

Deadline to Apply for Fall 2025: March 1, 2025

Step 1. Create a Selective Admissions System account (new window). Once you have an active account you can print a program checklist to begin the process. You can apply for a total of two selective admission programs.

Step 2. Students who are not currently enrolled in classes at BCTC must fill out an application for admission (new window). Students who are currently enrolled in classes at BCTC will not need to reapply. 

Step 3. Attend a mandatory preadmission conference with the Program Coordinator. Please refer to the preadmission conference website for dates and location. A conference attendance form will need to be submitted in your packet. 

Step 4. Gather the following additional documents for your packet (these are listed on the checklist):

  • Official scores of the ATI:TEAS Entrance Exam. (NOTE: Exam can be taken every 30 days up to 3 times a year) The application process is competitive and based upon ATI: TEAS Examination and GPA.
  • Official ATI:TEAS prep materials can be found at https://atitesting.com/teas/teas-prep

  • ATI TEAS Minimum Score 41.30
  • Minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.500, or equivalent prerequisite GPA
  • Completion of prerequisite courses by deadline is preferred, but is not required to submit your packet.

Advanced Standing

Students who may qualify as Advanced Standing

  • Have taken nursing courses at an accredited college.
  • Have taken nursing courses at BCTC.
  • LPN or PN applicant must have graduated, passed the NCLEX-PN within one year of application to the program OR provide verification of at least one year of full-time employment as a LPN within the last three years.

  • Official ATI:TEAS prep materials can be found at https://atitesting.com/teas/teas-prep

  • Transfer applicants seeking to transfer into BCTC’s Nursing program from a Nursing program at another college must submit 2 letters of faculty support addressed to the BCTC Nursing program. One letter must be from a program administrator, and one from a clinical instructor.  Letters must include each faculty’s position & contact information.
  • LPN to RN Applicants who graduated from an accredited LPN program more than one year ago must submit verification of at least one year of full-time employment as a LPN within the last three years. (Letter from employer listing positions held, dates of employment, and supervisor contact information)
  • Students applying for readmission must submit two letters of recommendation. One must be from the Nursing program coordinator. Another must be from full-time program faculty.
