Return to Title IV Funds Policy
Below is a summary of Bluegrass Community & Technical College's Return to Title IV (R2T4) policy. To view the entire policy click here.
Federal regulations require the Bluegrass Community & Technical College Student Financial Aid Office to recalculate a student's eligibility for federal financial aid funds when the student receives all failing grades (grades of E, F, W, and/or Z) during the semester. This may happen when a student unofficially or officially withdraws or is unsuccessful in all his/her classes. A portion of the total amount of Federal title IV aid disbursed to the student must be returned to the U.S. Department of Education.
At the time a student is unsuccessful or withdraws, the Student Financial Aid office will calculate the percentage of aid that must be returned. The Student Financial Aid Office will notify the student of the earned and unearned aid. The unearned aid will be returned to the U.S. Department of Education. The returned unearned aid will likely create a bill for the student. If so, please contact the Student Billing Office to discuss available payment options.
Per federal regulations a student who receives all failing grades (grades of E, F, W, or Z) for his/her semester classes will be subject to the Return to Title IV policy. If a student unofficially withdraws the aid will be calculated at the 50% mark of attendance. A student whose attendance is documented past the 60% mark will not be subject to the Return to Title IV policy.
Funds will be returned in the following order
- Unsubsidized Direct Stafford Loan
- Subsidized Direct Stafford Loan
- Perkins Loan
- Direct Plus Loan
- Pell grant
