Available Scholarships

Bluegrass Community and Technical College is proud to offer a wide range of scholarships that have been established through the generosity of individual donors, businesses, and foundations.

Once you complete the scholarship application, you will be considered for all available scholarships available during that financial year. The scholarships are awarded by a Scholarship Committee which is appointed by the college president.

While some scholarships support those who demonstrate high academic achievement, others provide support for those with academic need regardless of GPA. These scholarships are intended to support a wide range of criteria including academic programs such as Architectural Technology, Business, Cosmetology, Electrical Technology, Health Care, Science, and Welding Technology while others support students who graduated from particular high schools, live in a certain county, or who are studying at a specific BCTC campus.

Detailed Scholarship List

Glossary of Terms:

  • Full-tuition scholarship: applies to scholarships that begin at the $5,000 level per academic year or provide full-tuition up to 12 credit hours.
  • Partial-tuition scholarship: applies to scholarships that begin at the $1,000 level per academic year. 
  • Book award: applies to scholarships that begin at the $250 level per academic year.
  • Renewable: a student is eligible for this scholarship multiple times but will need to apply for it each time.

Accounting Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled in an accounting course and in good standing with BCTC. Renewable.

Alliance Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be involved in the LGBTQ* Alliance student organization, demonstrate financial need and/or be a first-generation student. Preference given to an African American or Latino/Latina student. Renewable.

Alumni Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be taking at least 3 credit hours, have at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Preference given to a student enrolled in at least 6 hours. Renewable.

Anna F. Johnson Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility: Full tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled full time in a nursing program. Preference given to a student from Bourbon County. Renewable.

Architectural Technology Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Pursuing Arch Tech degree. Renewable.

Architectural Technology Alumni Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the semester for which the award is given, declare an architectural technology major, demonstrate financial need, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have completed at least 12 credit hours of ACH courses before the semester in which the award is given. Renewable.

Arts in Focus Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be enrolled in the associate of arts or fine arts program, have at least a 2.5 GPA and have actively participated in or attended campus or community arts programs and activities last year. Renewable.

Augusta A. Julian Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate financial need. Preference given to a GED recipient. Renewable.

Baptist Health Hospital Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled in nursing, respiratory care, or a radiography program and have demonstrated the potential for achieving academic excellence. Renewable.

BCTC Student Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. 2.0 minimum GPA. Renewable.

Betty H. and Joe F. Reed Book Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be a resident of Clark County, demonstrate financial need, have at least a 2.5 GPA and be employed full or part time. Renewable. 

Buford R. Burchfield Scholarship

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Must be a full-time student, be pursuing an associate degree in architectural technology, demonstrate financial need, complete at least 12 credit hours in architectural technology and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in architectural technology courses. Renewable.

Clark County Winchester Heritage Commission Scholarship 

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a Clark County resident attending BCTC Winchester and enrolled in at least one history class. Renewable.

Clark Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must plan to pursue a degree in a medical-related field and be a first-semester student at the Winchester campus. Renewable.

Commonwealth Scholarship (KCTCS) 

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Must be a current-year high school graduate who finished in the top quartile of graduating class. Renewable on the condition that 2nd year students have completed at least 24 hours and maintained a 3.0 GPA.

Construction Specifications Institute, Bluegrass Chapter Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be pursuing an associate’s degree in architectural technology, demonstrate financial need, complete at least 12 credit hours in architectural technology, be a full-time student and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in architectural technology courses. Renewable.

Dental Hygiene Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be pursuing AAS – Dental Hygiene. Renewable.

Derek Pelphrey Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must have attended Tates Creek High School, demonstrate financial need, be in good academic standing at the time of selection, maintain a 2.8 GPA and intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Renewable for up to 4 consecutive semesters.

Don Shear Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be pursuing a degree in dental hygiene, be a second-year student and have excellent grades and technical skills. Renewable.

Donna Crain Drury Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must attend Lawrenceburg BCTC and be a resident of Anderson county with volunteer/community service experience. Renewable. 

Dr. Jack B. Jordan Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate financial need. Preference for graduates of Bryan Station High School. Renewable.

Dr. L. R. Bean Radiology Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate knowledge, empathy, humor and the potential for academic success in dental hygiene. Renewable.

Dream Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must have a DACA, TPS or undocumented status. Renewable.

Electrical Technology Scholarship

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled full time in the electrical technology program. Renewable for a second year if the student is in good standing. Renewable.

Elizabeth W. Page Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be pursuing an associate of applied science degree in office administration. Renewable.

Gene Haas Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled in computer manufacturing and machining, be in good standing and maintain a 2.0 GPA. Renewable.

Gifted Student Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must have a 3.5 GPA.

Glitz Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate financial need, be in good standing, be enrolled at the Winchester campus, be in a high-need workforce development area or plan to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in Kentucky. Renewable.

Gordon M. Nichols Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate financial need. Preference for graduates of Bryan Station High School. Renewable.

Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels Better Life Scholarship (KCTCS)

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a Kentucky resident; be a first-time student; be enrolled full time; be pursuing an associate’s degree; be a single, working parent with at least 1 child younger than 12; and demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, potential for academic success and unmet financial need. Renewable.

James and Amy Kolasa Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be studying Computer Information Technology or a related program and have a 2.5 GPA.

John T. Smith Scholarship (KCTCS)

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship up to 12 credit hours. Must be an African American Kentucky resident, be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours, demonstrate potential for success in a postsecondary education and demonstrate financial need. Renewable with at least a 2.5 GPA.

Judy Johnson Scholarship

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Promising future educator enrolled in Edu 201 with preference given for under-represented minority students. Renewable.

Kim Knight Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a full-time student, demonstrate financial need, have the potential for achieving academic excellence, have at least a 2.7 GPA, be admitted to the nursing program or a program that contributes to workforce development in a high-need area or be a transfer student to a bachelor’s degree program in Kentucky. Preference given to an applicant who plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Renewable.

LCC Nursing Endowment Challenge Match Scholarship 

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be pursuing a nursing degree. Renewable. 

Lewis E. Owens Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial-tuition scholarship. Must have financial need with a preference given to a first-generation college student from eastern Kentucky. Renewable for a second year.

Louis and Betty Jo Simms Dental Hygiene Scholarship

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled in the dental hygiene program and demonstrate financial need. Renewable.

Melissa Arnett Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarship award. Must be a dental hygiene student and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference given to a student with financial need. Renewable.

Metropolitan Women’s Club Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be a nontraditional student who is at least 25 years old, be enrolled in the nursing program, have at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. citizen and be a Kentucky resident. Renewable. 

Nancy Nollenberger Sallee Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Preferences for students of accounting as well as DACA and TPS students. Can be used to pay for childcare. Renewable. 

Nick Parrish Scholarship of Hope

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be enrolled in at least 1 class and have a letter of reference from a representative of the Hope Center or another agency that helps individuals overcome addiction. Renewable up to 3 semesters.

Office Administration Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be enrolled in Office Administration program.

Partners in Progress Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial-tuition scholarship. Must have a 2.0 GPA. Renewable.

Pathways Out of Poverty Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must come as a recommendation from the staff of the Central Kentucky Goodwill Resource Center. Renewable.

PNC Bank Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate ability to do college work or maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Renewable.

Presidential Scholarship (KCTCS)

Eligibility: Full-tuition scholarship. Preference given to a Kentucky resident who is enrolled for at least 6 credit hours with a minimum 3.25 GPA. Renewable.

Raymond L. and Mabel Haggard Quisenberry Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a Clark County resident, attend the Winchester campus, have at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate outstanding leadership or service in campus or community activities. Based on completion of at least 12 credit hours earned at BCTC. Renewable.

Samaritan Volunteers Scholarship 

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a second-year student, be pursuing a career in Nursing. Renewable.

Stanley Howard McGowan II Book Fund Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Enrolled in at least 6 hours and has a documented disability through Disability Support Services or its successor. Renewable.

Swarnamukhi Gopal Rao Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be pursuing an associate’s degree in any science program. Preference given to a nontraditional student who is returning to college after an absence of at least 5 years or who is attending for the first time. Renewable if the student is in good academic standing.

Hockensmith Agency Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a Scott County High School or Great Crossings High School graduate, have at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Timothy A. Cantrell Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must demonstrate financial need. Preference for graduates of Bryan Station High School. Renewable.

Todd Denham Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA with a preference for Clark County residents. Renewable.

Todd Louis Musgrave Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be a business major or have a concentration in retail or marketing and possess a strong spirit and willingness to help others. Preference given to a nontraditional student with past personal and academic struggles. Renewable.

Tony J. Tombasco Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: Book award. Must be pursuing an associate’s degree in dental hygiene and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA. Renewable.

Tri-State Roofing and Metal Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be pursuing an associate’s degree in architectural technology, demonstrate financial need, have completed at least 12 credit hours in architectural technology and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in architectural technology courses. Renewable.

Winchester Art Guild Scholarship

Eligibility: Book Award. Must be enrolled in an Associate of Arts degree plan and attend Winchester BCTC. Renewable.

Wood Family Scholarship

Eligibility: Partial tuition scholarship. Must be a Winchester-Clark County resident; plan to major in industrial maintenance, electrical engineering or similar technical studies programs; and have at least 3.0 GPA. Preference given to a student who has completed the 1 + 1 integrated engineering technology program. Renewable.
