Aspire Scholarship Program

The Academic Support Program Inspiring to Reach Excellence (ASPIRE) provides African American students with appropriate programs and services while demonstrating understanding and appreciation of diverse background and academic goals. Programs & services will be directed to African American students to assist in acquiring Associates of Arts/Science degree, transfer to a 4-year institution, career exploration, growth through cultural enrichment and to become lifelong learners.

Application Requirements: 

  • Completed Admission Application to BCTC
  • Completed Online ASPIRE Interest Form   
  • Completed BCTC Scholarship Application Including:
    •  One Letter of Recommendation from a School Official 
    • Official High School Transcript
    • An original statement that is at least one typed page in length on the following topic: Discuss the value and importance in your life of continuing your education and how it relates to your choosing Bluegrass Community & Technical College

Eligibility

  • Must be an African American/Black High School Senior
  • Plan to attend Bluegrass Community & Technical College as a first-year student in the upcoming Fall semester pursuing an Associates degree in Arts, Science, or Applied Science
  • A high school Grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher 
  • Must complete the FAFSA to be considered for the ASPIRE scholarship
  • Priority will be given to PEARL Academy participants and loan only recipients
